Welcome to my Web site! I am a freelance and contract technical writer, and editor. Running my own business for 25 years has allowed me to develop a very diverse background along with an understanding of the importance of deadlines, and customer service.
It is no longer adequate for technical writers to possess excellent grammar skills, a working knowledge of word processing, and familiarity with the target audience. They must have subject matter expertise, along with the ability to communicate effectively with the subject matter expert (SME).

I have acquired expertise in these fields:
- Industrial laser autofocusing devices
I am a contract technical writer for a major manufacturer in Markham, ON, Canada (WDI Industrial Sensors and Process Automation).
- Pathology
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), I have practiced in all five departments of the medical laboratory including: hematology, microbiology, histology, immunohaematology, and clinical chemistry.
- Horticulture
I owned and operated a successful lawn care franchise (Weed ManTM) for 25 years, during which time I gained substantial expertise in turf diseases, destructive turf insects, turf establishment, and maintenance. I am a certified instructor for non-licensed applicators.
- Electronics
Loudspeaker design, using Thiele-Small parameters, has been a hobby of mine for 20 years
- Music
I have been a professional stage musician for 22 years, and operator of a small recording studio, with experience in audio recording software, MIDI sequencing software, and audio editing.
- Home and commercial renovations
Home and commercial renovations have allowed me to develop skills in framing, drywall finishing, electrical wiring, plumbing, heating, painting, roofing, and trimming.

These are some of the services I offer:
- Editing
Medical documents (research, essays, journals), musician journals, horticultural documents, and various trade journals.
- Writing
Procedural and reference manuals for home electronics, home theatre systems, loudspeaker systems, laboratory instruments, optical instruments, horticulture, and wood construction.
- Web site content editing
Many Web sites consist of poor layout, an over-use of graphics, difficult navigation schemes, and inconsistent formats. A Web page should be a larger, content-specific version of your business card, but must also be concise. Does your Web site call your client to action? Does it inspire the reader to click that all-important "Contact Us" button, only to find that the link is outdated, or has failed? If you can answer "yes" to any of these questions, I can help.
- Student essay editing
Students at all levels (secondary school, college or university) who are required to write essays often know their subject matter, but lack the necessary skills to produce an effective, and readable paper. I am pleased to offer special student rates.
